a bite of my apple

My darling baby macbook had arrived the day I was due to fly off for a dose of winter sun, so I only managed to play with it today. I had itched so badly to open it, and finally did so at work, oh so briefly, just to get it set up.

I only managed to explore a couple of the functins once I got home.

And in my day 0 of using apple mac, I've fallen in love.

I love that I managed to connect to the net as soon as I switched on my laptop and clicked open the safari browser. And I love the fact that the mac is a truly personal computer. It is built to be your most trustworthy companion and closest friend, with the prominence of the address book and calendar, and the niftiness of the dashboard with the calendar, time, and most important of all, the weather forecast! It's perfect for me, the laziest of girls who never ever checks the weather forecast, though I really should. Now, with a quick click of the button, I can see it all! It's lovely how my every need seems to be anticipated.

What saddens me is that I probably don't eed such a personal computer, I have a blackberry and most of my life is organised in my work Outlook and blackberry. It seems a waste that I can't make sure of apple's greatest strength=that personal touch.

I'll sleep on it and figure it out.

ok i'm actually dying... good night, world!

winter sun

I'm back from my extended weekend in Singapore. Stepped off my 16-hour flight at 7.20am with my backpack no checked-in luggage) and went straight to the office after a quick shower stop at the gym. I was in the office by 10.15am.

I am superlatively happy that I had this lovely, if somewhat travel-intensive weekend.

It was just what I needed.

A break from London.

Time away to think things through, to broaden my perspective, recharge my batteries, catch up with friends, get my much-needed dose of love and sunshine, and find my centre–the eye within the hurricane. Howdo I say it all?

I'll wax lyrical another day when I am less jetlagged. In the meanwhile.. one more quickie post,,,

Salut! Je suis encore ici.

It's been a while since I last wrote, not because I've been heartbroken over having been LJBF-ed ("Let's Just Be Friends"-ed), although it has been a tough time for me, but because my PC has very ungraciously and inconsiderately upped and died on me. For about two weeks, I have lived sans internet access, which has been unbearable.

I'm writing because I finally have internet access and the time and energy to write. After a lovely two-hour meal in a cosy brasserie (Chez Flottes) on Rue Cambon, sipping champagne, slurping oysters, and cutting up snails daintily (you're not supposed to cut them up, but that's the only way I can bear to eat them—when it;s not so baldy obvious that they are snails), I write now from the comfort of my room (122) in Le Meurice on Rue de Rivoli, sitting in the gloriously thick and heavy white hotel bathrobe.

There's much that I've been thinking about, want to write about. A mass of confusion within. Random strands of musings, Gordian knots of thoughts.

But that will have to wait for better clarity of mind (more sleep), more time (when I don't have a 6.30am start tomorrow), and the luxury of my own internet acccess again (have succumbed to the naughty impulse and ordered a macbook a couple of days ago).

Bonne nuit!
